FAMILIES FIGHTING BLINDNESS
Families Fighting Blindness is a non-profit organization dedicated to driving research to stop vision loss among children affected by Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS)
MEET LUCY
Lucy, an eleven-year-old girl affected with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, was the catalyst for her family to form Families Fighting Blindness. Together they work with other families to raise the funds needed to aid researchers in their quest to find answers to combat BBS issues.
01
Lucy was born with eleven toes. This was one of the keys to help geneticists connect her delays to BBS. She was diagnosed with the syndrome when she was 2 years old.
02
From a young age, Lucy has loved to draw and create art. She sees the world differently and it’s evident in her distinct artwork.
03
Lucy loves to travel and explore. She and her family are trying to help her experience all the beauty of the world she can while her eyesight lasts. She’s lived in China and loved her visit to France.
04
Lucy is a reader. She is rarely found without a book and loves the Chronicles of Narnia series. She’s currently learning braille through the school system.
05
Lucy is the youngest of five siblings. She was born into a family who needed her just as much as she needed them.
